글로벌 커뮤니케이션- 영어로 전화할 때 꼭 알아야 할 표현
[비즈니스 영어] 영어로 전화할 때 꼭 알아야 할 정중한 표현
Making and receiving phone calls
So that’s what we’re going to be looking at today.
I’m going to be teaching you some useful expressions to use when picking up the phone and calling.
1. 인사하기
Simply say “hello”
아침 : good morning
점심 : good afternoon
저녁 : good evening
2. 자기소개하기
After greeting the person, the next thing you need to do is state your name.
Many students make the mistake of saying “I’m Emma”
This sounds very unnatural, so you ought to say, “This is Emma ”
After stating your name, you need to tell them where you’re calling from or perhaps your position.
“This is Emma. I’m a teacher from Britent.”
3. 전화를 건 목적 & 요청사항 말하기
Next, you need to give the reason for your phone call.
“I’m calling to discuss your schedule for next week.”.
Having done that, you now need to think about the action you require the person to make.
“to pass on a message”, “ to email someone some information”, “to transfer someone to another person” “Could you let me know your availability please?”
4. 전화를 받았을 때
If you didn’t hear the person’s name, it’s really important to sound polite.
“What’s your name?” “What’s your phone number?” This is very rude,
So, in a formal or business context, you ought to say
“Sorry, Could I take your name?”, “Who’s calling please?”
So, That’s all from me today, I hope you’ve enjoyed this lesson and it’s been of some use to you
